Named after our founding principal Jeff, the Hulsberg name has become well known in our industry as the local leader in experienced construction-minded design services. Now, Hulsberg Engineering continues its legacy under the ownership and experience of Floyd Simpson, with integrity, experience, and value as the cornerstones of our firm.

Jeffrey K. Hulsberg, PE

Establishing Hulsberg Engineering, Inc., Jeff was one of the forerunners in the field of residential structural engineering. Along the way, he fostered strong relationships with the surrounding building departments. Jeff’s unique background as a general contractor and custom homebuilder brought an unmatched level of practical, economical and innovative experience to each of his designs.

Floyd S. Simpson, PE

Floyd gained his early design experience across a wide range of structural engineering fields. This experience allowed for an easy transition into the complexities of both commercial and residential engineering. He is now one of the area’s leading experts in residential design and forensic engineering.  Floyd has also served as an Adjunct Instructor in the Building Construction Management and Civil Engineering programs at the University of North Florida.

Derek B. Murray, PE

Derek is a structural design professional with a focus on residential and commercial projects. His career began in North Carolina, designing conventionally framed residential projects.  Derek has developed extensive experience in high wind design of a wide range of projects, including affordable housing, oceanfront ultra-custom homes, multi-family buildings, and community amenity structures. His expertise covers a wide range of structural design, from new construction to alterations and renovations.

Jesse J. Jannette, PE

Jesse specialized in settlement-related damage and assessments early in his career.  He has become an expert in structural building code and wind design requirements, transitioning from forensic work to both alterations and new design. His experience includes a wide range of projects, from small renovations to large custom homes, as well as multi-family housing. Jesse’s attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to delivering exceptional results make him an invaluable asset to any project.
